Your Green Career Path

The Denver Green Jobs Initiative (DGJI) program was customizable for participants who were looking to start a new career path in the green industry.

Below are some sample options used for planning your career path through DGJI. When you had enrolled, your client services manager would help you determine the order in which you took the classes necessary for your chosen career path. Our job placement professionals worked diligently with all DGJI participants to find careers best suited for them.
Career Path 1: Green Construction

Required Courses for a Green Construction Career:
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • OSHA 10
  • Green Construction
  • Career Readiness & Computer Literacy

Career Path 2: Energy Efficiency / BPI Certified Auditor

Required Courses for an Energy Efficiency Career:
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • OSHA 10
  • Fundamentals of Energy Efficiency
  • BPI Certification*
  • Career Readiness & Computer Literacy
* Note: BPI Certification space was limited and competitive. Some participants would have been able to complete Fundamentals of Energy Efficiency but not have been placed in BPI per test scores and space. BPI Certification was not recommended for participants with a past felony, as the work is residential and companies cannot hire auditors with a felony record for residential work.

Career Path 3: Solar Installer

Required Courses for a Solar Installation Career:
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • OSHA 10
  • Fundamentals of Solar Installation
  • Career Readiness & Computer Literacy
Those who completed this career path were at an advantage for completing Career Path 4, if desired, to become NABCEP certified.

Career Path 4: NABCEP Certified Solar Installer

Required Courses for a NABCEP Certified Solar Installer Career:
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • OSHA 10
  • Intro to Solar / NABCEP pre-test
  • Career Readiness & Computer Literacy
Career Path 5: Green Project Administration**

Career Path 6: Green Sales and Customer Service**

** Technical classes can add more to a participant's resume and experience if they so choose to take such classes. Employability is also higher for project administrators and sales and customer service professionals who have such classes under their belt.
