Program

Interested Denver Green Jobs Initiative (DGJI) candidates completed an application and a series of assessments to determine employment goals, challenges and job readiness. Based on results, a client services manager determined appropriateness for the program.

Upon acceptance into the program, each participant was assigned to a client services manager who worked with him/her to design an individualized training plan that identified and mapped a career ladder to achieve the desired employment outcomes. Courses ranged in length; the average participant's training program lasted approximately four weeks.

DGJI courses combined technical and non-technical training with life skills and supportive services to prepare students for success in employment, apprenticeships or continuing education.

Each participant received job placement assistance, including resume writing and interview preparation. Participants who completed the training components also worked with a job developer to establish connections with employers who were hiring.

Once a participant was successfully placed in a job, he or she could continue working with their client services manager and job developer for six months after placement to ensure they had the support needed to maintain employment and take advantage of advancement opportunities.
